The DG406BDW is a precision CMOS analog switch designed for analog signal routing and various multiplexing applications. This versatile device consists of dual 4:1 multiplexers and four low-on-resistance bi-directional switches that support both unidirectional and bidirectional applications.

The DG406BDW combines outstanding on-resistance flatness, wide signal passband and extremely low profile for high performance digital-to-analog/analog-to-digital conversion systems. It requires a single positive power supply, and is capable of single-ended or differential switching for both digital and analog signals. A logic level enable pin allows all analog signals to be electronically isolated from any bipolar or static interference.

The DG406BDW offers a wide range of features including a low on resistance of typically 5 ohms, handling up to 10mA currents and a maximum analog switching voltage of ±VS. With very quick switching times, this integrated circuit is ideally suited for data conversion applications in telecom, instrumentation and industrial control systems. This means that it is highly suitable for a variety of communication, instrumentation and control applications.

The working principle of the DG406BDW is simple. When a logic high level voltage is applied to its enable pin, the analog switch will connect the pins of the two multiplexers, and the analog signal will flow from the input to the output. The switching times are in the nanosecond range and hence digital data can be converted to analog signals with very little distortion. When the enable pin is at a low logic level, all analog signals are electronically isolated from any bipolar or static interference.
