The DG409DY is one of Texas Instrument\'s Dual SPST-NO(single pole single throw, normally open) CMOS analog switches which are designed to provide high performance, low ON-resistance, and low ON-leakage versions of the SPST-NO switch. The device is bidirectional, low-capacitance, high voltage capable, dual CMOS analog switches. It is designed to operate from a single supply voltage in the range of 2.7V to 5.5V.

The DG409DY switch has a very fast switching speed, great leakage performance, and high speed. It utilizes the low-noise, low-leakage and bidirectional operation of CMOS analog switches for a variety of applications such as analog multiplexer, sample/hold switch, scan circuit control, signal routing and distribution, voltage controlled oscillator control, audio performance enhancement, and more. In addition, the device contains two independent single-pole single throw (SPST) analog switches which can either be switched simultaneously using the common control logic signal or by using two different control logic signals.

This device is designed to handle large signal swings, and is capable of blocking up to the full supply voltage. It can also be used to switch or multiplex signals up to 4.5V when the VDD supply voltage is 5.5V. The device features an integrated resistor to provide a default switch state of OFF. This allows for the switch to be used without the need for an external resistor.

The CMOS analog switch works by using a combination of a p-channel device and an n-channel device with a common control gate. The control gate is used to switch the analog signal from one terminal to the other, when the control voltage is a logic low. When the control voltage is a logic high, the analog signal is turned off, as the p-channel device is cut off and the n-channel device is open.

This switch is also designed to provide very low ON-resistance, resulting in minimal voltage drops. The ON-resistance of the device is specified at 300 Ohms maximum, depending on the supply voltage.This ensures that the device dissipates minimal power during the switch operation. The OFF-leakage current of the single switch is typically 0.2nA at 25 degrees Celsius, whereas the OFF-isolation resistance is specified at typically 1000 GigaOhms at 25 degrees Celsius.

The CMOS switch has very low charge injection performance. The device\'s datasheet includes various tests that were conducted to measure the device\'s charge injection performance. The test results showed that the charge injection performance was unmatched when compared to other analog switches in the market.

The DG409DY switch is available in the SOIC-14 package, for large-volume production. The device\'s power supply pinout makes the wiring, assembly, and handling easier and more efficient, while still providing reliability and performance stability.

The DG409DY switch has been widely used in a variety of applications in electrical engineering, especially in systems such as analog multiplexers, sample/hold switches, scan circuit controls, audio-performance enhancements, and in wide-band circuits.
