The DG421DY is an analog switch which utilizes 4 independent, single pole double-throw (SPDT) analog switches. These switches are often used in applications such as signal routing, multiplexing and demultiplexing, and signal conditioning. The device operates over the voltage range of VDD = 0V to VDD = 5.25V, with a typical on resistance of 40Ω. It is also capable of operating at temperatures between -40°C and +85°C.

The working principle of the DG421DY is to use two orthogonal control lines to select one of four switch positions. When the two control lines (A & B) are pulled to a low state the switch closes path one, when the two control lines A & B are high, the switch closes path two. The DG421DY also features an enable input which allows the user to disable all four switches at once. The device also features a latch function which allows the user to switch between multiple preset positions when an enable signal is received.

The DG421DY is most commonly used for signal routing, multiplexing/demultiplexing, and signal conditioning applications.
