The DP83630SQ/NOPB is a high-performance physical layer transceiver (PHY) comprising an advanced PowerQuad transceiver subsystem with Ethernet support. It is designed to provide a low-cost, high-density, multi-speed solution for Gigabit Ethernet (1000 BASE-T) and 10/100BASE-T applications. The DP83630SQ/NOPB provides the Ethernet physical layer interface between the media access controller (MAC) and the copper cable, backplane, or optical fibers. The DP83630SQ/NOPB is compliant to IEEE 802.3 10Base-T and IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX/100Base-FX standards. It supports up to two pairs of differential input/outputs for 10/100Base-T operation and four pairs of differential pairs for 1000Base-T operation.
The DP83630SQ/NOPB interface driver, receiver and transceiver is designed to meet the 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet physical layer requirements. The driver provides a low power, low noise, and low distortion signal to the transmission media. The high performance receiver uses advanced equalization algorithms to reduce ISI (in-channel) noise and crosstalk, allowing for reliable and high speed transmission. The transceiver performs the conversion between a single-ended signal (host data clock and data) to a differential signal (transmission medium).
The DP83630SQ/NOPB is capable of driving a low damping impedance balanced line of 100 ohm and has a minimum transmit amplitude of 325mVpp. It has a receive line input sensitivity of 400mVpp and a built-in Rx squelch circuit. The receiver has a programmable hysteresis that can be adjusted for different levels of TX transmit sense threshold voltage. The DP83630SQ/NOPB also has an adaptive pre-emphasis circuitry to reduce distortion at the receiver due to cable impedance mismatch and system clock jitter.
The DP83630SQ/NOPB provides diagnostic functions such as auto-negotiation status signaling and link integrity testing. It also provides remote loop-back capability for easy diagnostics of the Ethernet physical layer. The DP83630SQ/NOPB has a built-in media access control (MAC) compatible configuration and diagnostics interface, enabling system manufacturer to quickly integrate the chip into their Ethernet transceivers and reduce time-to-market.
The DP83630SQ/NOPB is packaged in a high density QFN so as to reduce the cost and power consumption of the transceiver. It has low power standby and operates over an ambient temperature range of -40 to +85degree Celsius. The chip requires a single power supply of 3.0V. The DP83630SQ/NOPB has EMI shielding and is compliant to EN55022 Class B (CISPR22) EMI/EMC emission.
