The DP83640TVV device is a high-performance Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) transceiver designed to support 10/100/1000BASE-T applications. It performs all of the physical layer functions for both Media Access Control (MAC) Layer and interconnect systems. It interfaces directly with the MAC layer through a simplified four-wire interface.
The DP83640TVV includes an internal Test Pattern Generator (TPG) and Test Pattern Checker (TPC) processor to support both self-testing and remote loopback operation. Furthermore, it contains an integrated low jitter, low power PLL to generate the reference clock required for the PCS layer.
