The DP83867ERGZT is an Ethernet physical layer transceiver in an IC package, manufactured by Texas Instruments. It is designed to interface to an Ethernet physical layer MAC via an RMII, RGMII, or SGMII interface. The device supports both MII and RMII (reduced media independent interface) in parallel. It supports 16MS/s data rate in RMII or SGMII interfaces, 8MS/s data rate with MII, and 14MS/s data rate with RGMII.The DP83867ERGZT is designed to provide a low-cost, high-performance solution for Ethernet applications. It includes integrated analog and digital diagnostics, along with an on-chip pull-up resistor to reduce power consumption and enhance ESD robustness. The device supports a full range of Auto-Negotiation link speeds and duplex configurations, meeting IEEE 802.3u standards for full-duplex operation. Additionally, the device supports IEEE 802.3ab standards for half-duplex operation.The device includes a unique differential signaling technology called Dynamic Signal Disparity (DSD), which is an advanced signal marketing technique that allows for a broader range of acceptable signal levels and enhanced signaling accuracy. The device also features an on-chip protection circuit to protect against any deliberate or accidental insertion of spurious signals in the data path.The DP83867ERGZT also offers several low-power modes. Low power modes allow the device to maintain most of its functions while in a low power state. This means that the device can maintain link-up status even when there is no data transfer. When not in use, the device can enter low power mode, reducing power consumption to as low as 5–10 mW (setting-dependent).Working principle:The on-chip power supply voltages of the DP83867ERGZT device are internally regulated and controlled by the duty cycle clocking logic. When the device is powered on, the power supplies are enabled and the clock is run at a frequency of 16.25MHz. The duty cycle is adjustable and can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the system.The DP83867ERGZT includes a Media Access Controller (MAC) interface, which allows it to be connected to a higher-level Ethernet controller or processor. It supports both RMII and MII connections and provides the interface between the MAC and the hardware module. The device supports IEEE 802.3u Auto-Negotiation and can configure and optimize the link according to a variety of speed and duplex combinations. The device also supports auto-negotiation of VLAN identifiers to configure and optimize network connectivity.Finally, the DP83867ERGZT includes integrated on-chip protection circuits and ESD-robust designs, which provide high levels of protection against electrostatic discharge.
