DRV103H is a type of power distribution switch, load driver, which is mainly used in biological, chemical and mechanical industries. It is an integrated circuit that functions as a bridge between electrical circuits, providing high efficiency, low power dissipation and low noise for applications. It can be used to drive a variety of loads, such as relay coils, motor coils, DC motors, and other low-power loads.The DRV103H is a single-phase brushless DC motor driver that uses a bi-directional PWM logic control interface. The bi-directional PWM logic control allows the DRV103H to be used in applications where the direction of the motor is required to be changed frequently. It features multiple protection features, such as over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage and over-temperature protection. Its low-power operation further adds to its reliability and efficiency.The circuit of DRV103H consists of a three-phase half-bridge circuit, two voltage regulators VREG, two gate drivers, two power switches and two current-sense resistors R2 and R4. The three-phase half-bridge consists of three power FETs and three drive signals. The two gate drivers are used to drive the three power FETs and provide a level shifting for the two PWM inputs. The two power switches are used to provide the necessary power supply to the circuit. The two current-sense resistors R2 and R4 are used to sense the motor current and provide the necessary feedback to the controller.The DRV103H has a noise figure better than 65dB and a frequency range (including harmonics) of up to 500 kHz. Its maximum power dissipation is 25 watts. Its quiescent current consumption is less than 50mA. Its operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +125°C. Its switching frequency is 30KHz.The working principle of DRV103H is simple. It uses the bi-directional PWM logic control interface to drive the three power FETs. The three power FETs are turned ON and OFF alternatively to modulate the motor current. The PWM inputs are used to control the speed of the motor from zero to maximum. The current-sense resistors R2 and R4 sense the motor current and provide the feedback to the controller to adjust the speed of the motor. The two voltage regulators VREG are used to supply power to the circuit and also provides protection to the DRV103H.DRV103H is static and it does not have sophisticated motion control algorithm. But, its low power consumption, low noise level and its protection features make it suitable for low-power applications like driving DC relay coils, motor coils, motors, and other low-power loads.
