DS1100U-40/T&R products from Maxim Integrated Products are stand-alone delay lines designed for frequency synthesis and pulse shaping applications.
These products are 8-bit, high-performance, low-power quarter-rate delay lines designed for seamless connection to other synthesis circuitry, such as phase-locked loops (PLLs) or spectrum compatibility synthesizers, for generation of a frequency reference or oscillator output. The DS1100U-40/T&R delay line is suitable for pulse shaping application into the MHz range.
The DS1100U-40/T&R is available in either the package option or tray option, each consisting of 1 or 2 standard IC lengths. Each IC length contains a total of 40 of the 8-bit delay line devices. The single length option contains a maximum of 8 devices and is available to support a frequency range of up to 40 MHz. The double length option contains up to 16 devices and is available to support a frequency range of up to 80 MHz. The maximum frequency range of the delay line can be extended by using additional IC lengths.
Working Principle
The DS1100U-40/T&R operates on a quarter-rate basis, where each delay line contains four 8-bit delay line stages. These stages are designed to give a uniform pulse width and pulse latency for each stage. The pulse width and latency are adjustable with an external voltage (Vtrim) which can be used to trim the output waveform for maximum accuracy. The trim voltage can also be used to adjust the pulse width of the output waveform.
