It is well suited for use in embedded systems as well as in mission-critical systems that require high-precision timing and long-term reliability.The device is especially well suited for applications requiring long-term accuracy in a wide temperature range such as in motor control systems, frequency synthesizers, or for controlling legacy or legacy-like systems such as PLCs, AC and DC drives, and position controllers. Additionally, the DS1190N+T can be used for generating signals for a range of applications including displays, communications, medical instruments, as well as medical imaging equipment.Working Principle
The DS1190N+T operates on a timebase of 0.5 to 1.5 ms that is updated periodically by the masterclk. A precision quartz crystal oscillator provides accurate frequency control. Frequency accuracy is better than 0.5 ppm when used in its intended design specification with an external quartz crystal.The DS1190N+T Programmable Timers and Oscillators includes a variety of integral features and options such as event control, frequency correction (frequency trim-up and trim-down), programmable prescalers with multiple output frequencies, and external clock input.The DS1190N+T provides programmable precision delays or pulse-width modulated output signals either through the dedicated signal output pin or through the SPI interface for MCU-based systems. The device outputs four signal formats that can be customized, two edge-aligned PWM signals, two sinewave outputs, and adjustable-duty-cycle signal. The SDIOPEN pin allows the user to increase the “noise immunity” of the device by adding an external capacitor. Additionally, the device features I2C communication protocol, temperature compensation, and low-voltage and temperature monitoring for safety and integrity inspection. The DS1190N+T supports a wide temperature range of -20oC to +70oC and a power supply range of 4.5 to 5.5V DC. The low current consumption (150 nA at 4.5V) makes the timed and frequency control easy to implement by satisfying the demands of various portable applications.Conclusion
