The DS1232LPSN+ PMIC - Supervisors provide audible alarms, output signals, and reset for overloaded or failing power supplies in personal computers and Unix servers. They detect both over-current and under-current conditions, allowing users to take the appropriate corrective action.

This PMIC - Supervisors is different from other supervisor ICs in the market, such as the DS1232P, because it offers an additional Low Power Shut Down (LPSD) pin. The pin allows the user to directly connect to the shutdown pins on power supplies for powering down a system before turning off the board’s power switch. To monitor the input supply current, the PMIC - Supervisors provides a programmable threshold voltage of 1.25V, 2.5V, or 3.75V.

The DS1232LPSN+ PMIC - Supervisors monitor the input current through an on-chip sense resistor. When the voltage from the sense resistor exceeds the threshold voltage, an alarm signal is generated. The alarm signal can be used to trigger the oscillator, or the on-board watchdog feature in the MCU. When the alarm signal is triggered, the watchdog will reset the system in order to prevent catastrophic events. Additionally, the PMIC - Supervisors provides a latching feature which will cause the reset signal to remain active until it is manually disabled.

The PMIC - Supervisors features an onboard oscillator with both programmable and fixed frequencies available. The programmable frequency allows the user to adjust the reporting cycle of the device to reduce false alarms and optimize performance. The fixed frequency feature eliminates the need for the user to manually configure the oscillator to ensure the correct reporting cycle.

The DS1232LPSN+ PMIC - Supervisors also provide various output signal options. The output signal can be configured as an open drain, a push-pull output, or a low voltage active output. The open drain output is useful for generating a reset signal to the microcontroller or other devices. The push-pull output allows the user to disable the reset signal without having to manually reset the device. Finally, the low voltage active output can be used to indicate the current status of the system.

In addition, the PMIC - Supervisors provides a variety of status indicators. The status indicators are used to provide visual and audible feedback when the alarm is triggered. The indicators are visible from the outside of the PC and can be adjusted easily with the PC’s volume control.

The DS1232LPSN+ PMIC - Supervisors are designed to protect personal computers and Unix servers from damage caused by over-current and under-current conditions. The device helps ensure system reliability by providing an audible alarm and reset output signal, as well as various sensing and output signal options.
