With its wide operating temperature range, the DS1236N-10+ is the ideal choice for applications in harsh environments such as automotive, aerospace, medical and industrial settings.The DS1236N-10+ works as a supervisor, monitoring the microcontroller’s activities and state. It includes an on-chip voltage reference and monitors the input voltage. If the input voltage falls below the lower trip point (VLT), the DS1236N-10+ will reset the microcontroller. On the other hand, if the input voltage rises above the upper trip point (VHT), the DS1236N-10+ will reset the microcontroller.The heart of the DS1236N-10+ is a reset generator block. This block contains a power supply monitoring circuit, a reset generator circuit, an oscillator and an interrupt generator. The reset generator is designed to provide an active low reset signal to the microcontroller when the voltage voltage input to the DS1236N-10+ falls below the VLT or rises above the VHT. The reset generator will also reset the microcontroller when the watchdog timer expires or when an external reset source issues a reset command.The oscillator provides a clock signal to the microcontroller and can be set to run at a frequency of either 4.19MHz or 256kHz. The interrupt generator can also be used to generate an interrupt request to the microcontroller when the device detects a fault condition. The DS1236N-10+ is additionally equipped with a power-on reset function.
