DS14C238WMX/NOPB is an advanced multi-channel quad differential line driver. It is fabricated using Texas Instruments’ cutting-edge CMOS process which results in low power dissipation and wide common mode range. The device has four separate and independent high-speed differential line drivers. It features enable/disable control for each driver, being configurably driven via TTL, PLCC or LVTTL levels. It includes protection circuitry for both the driver and receiver inputs. The driver output pins are short-circuit protected and the receiver input pins are overload protected.

Working Principle of DS14C238WMX/NOPB

The DS14C238WMX/NOPB is an advanced multi-channel quad differential line driver, which consists of four separate and independent high-speed differential line drivers. Each of these transceivers includes an Enable/Disable control pin. Each of the drivers can be manually enabled or disabled by setting this pin as either a logic high or low voltage level. The common mode range is designed to operate within a wide range of input voltages, which enables the device to work with a variety of interface signals.When the device is enabled, the line driver input is converted to a high-current differential output. The common mode voltage at the line driver output is set by pin VC, and two internal resistors. The differential output consists of two complementary current sources, one sourcing current and the other sinking current, which provides an AC-coupled signal.The signal is then transferred to the receiver, which converts it back to a single-ended signal. The receiver input is protected from overloading via a clamping and voltage limiting circuit. The output from the receiver is filtered and buffered, producing a clean output signal with a sufficient drive strength for TTL levels.
