DS1708TEPA+ Application Field and Working Principle

The DS1708TEPA+ is a powerful, low-power monitoring supervisor device designed to monitor and protect subsystems, circuits, and systems that function in high-reliability, wide temperature range environments. The device is ideally suited for automation, transportation, military, and other mission-critical applications. The DS1708TEPA+ is a highly-integrated voltage supervisor, making it cost-effective for monitoring high-voltage and low-voltage applications in industrial, test and measurement, and communications applications.The DS1708TEPA+ includes an advanced analog monitoring and protection system. It contains two analog channels for monitoring input voltage levels, an operating temperature range of -40° to +85°C, a compact size of 4mm x 4mm, and an ultra low power consumption of less than 1µA. It also features a grounded analog reference to reduce errors, a high accuracy voltage threshold accuracy of 0.8%, and 1s fast latchup time.The DS1708TEPA+ is designed to monitor any supply voltage in the range of 1.8V to 5.5V. It is ideally suited to operate over wide temperature ranges, as it has a junction temperature range of -40° to +85°C. This device features two programmable voltage thresholds (GPA and GPH) that can be set up between 1.8V to 5.5V and are adjustable to accommodate various operating parameters. The accuracy of the voltage thresholds is plus/minus 0.8% and the fast latchup time is 1ms.The DS1708TEPA+ is also designed to provide additional functions such as pulse-type supervisor, with manual reset input, and power-on reset. It also has a watchdog timer function that keeps track of the time from the activation of the reset input. It also has adjustable reset time-out as short as 250ms.The DS1708TEPA+ includes internal monitoring for temperature, operating temperature range and ambient temperature range. It has an operating temperature range of -40° to +85°C and an ambient temperature range of -20° to +85°C. The temperature warning level and thermal shutdown are controlled to open drain pins and are adjustable through inputs on the external pin.The DS1708TEPA+ also has an external RIN (Remote IN) pin. This pin enables a remotely activated input that can be used as a digital point of contact with sensitive systems. If this is activated, the device can change the state of its output.The DS1708TEPA+ is designed to be easy to configure and can be programmed by one of three options: either through a register set, SPI, or I2C. It includes an SPI interface for configuration, monitoring and diagnostics.In conclusion, the DS1708TEPA+ is an ideal device for many applications from industrial or transportation applications that require reliable, low-power monitoring with fast response time and wide temperature range.
