DS1807E+ is a digital potentiometer device that is designed to provide a wide range of features to support electronic circuits. With the combination of resistance elements and logic input and output circuits, it is able to provide a wide range of resistance values in an analog voltage control mode. Digital potentiometer devices allow precise gain control and the capability to adjust linearity in the transmit and receive paths of the system. This versatile device contains 4096 steps of resolution and is able to provide a wide range of resistance values from 0Ω to 128KΩ as well as multiple switchable functions for various applications.Applications for digital potentiometers are wide and varied and include audio, video, motor control, power supplies, and heat control. The DS1807E+ has been developed to offer increased performance, simplicity and robustness for the applications requiring adjustable gain, linearity or output impedance. Its wide range of features and the ability to control the resistance in real time make it the perfect solution for general purpose circuit or system design.The DS1807E+ consists of a set of two resistors, two switchable resistor banks, two switchable outputs, and two logic controls. Each of these components interact with each other, providing a wide range of resistance values and functions. The two resistors interact to create an adjustable gain control, which can be adjusted in real time by changing one or both of the resistors. Additionally, the two resistor banks are able to switch between resistance values from 0Ω to 128KΩ, providing a wide range of resistance values to suit a variety of applications. The two switchable outputs are also capable of switching between two digital logic controls, which enables the output of either high or low voltages.The workings of the DS1807E+ are based on digital control signals supplied by an external microcontroller. These digital signals determine which of the two resistor banks is selected and the resistance values that the bank provides. Once the resistor bank is selected, the resistance value can be changed in real-time by varying the logic signals supplied to the device. The logic signals also control the two switchable outputs, which can switch between either high or low voltages as required. The DS1807E+ also contains two reference voltage inputs, which enable accurate gain-leveling of the device’s output.The DS1807E+ is a versatile and reliable digital potentiometer device, suitable for a wide range of analog circuit design processes.
