Data Acquisition - Digital Potentiometers has become a vital member of the family of automated actuation technologies. This allows for a range of options for users to configure, such as 0 to 5V or 0 to 10V inputs, making it applicable across a range of technologies. The DS1866+ also features a sensor-interfacing protocol, commonly known as a sensor I/O protocol, which provides users with the ability to measure 4-20mA sensing inputs, allowing the device to act as both a slave and master.
The input voltage is compared to the values of the external potentiometers and this is outputted as a binary representation. This binary signal is then encoded using the I2C protocol and transferred to the DAC to be converted into a digital signal.
