DS2229-85 is an integrated memory solution manufactured by Korg, providing customers with enhanced performance at lower costs and higher power efficiency. The memory solution makes use of five distinct chips – the DS2229R (Request control) chip, the DS2229S (Synchronous Control) chip, and three lower-level address drivers – to provide a very robust, reliable, and scalable memory solution for a variety of applications. The two primary components of the integrated memory solution are the Request and Synchronous Control chips.The Request Control chip opens the communication interface between the memory and the system in order to provide a way for the CPU to access the memory directly. It carries out address decoding and monitors the status of the bus requesting read/write/reset operations. It also performs the essential task of controlling the output of both the Address, Data, and Command buses.Meanwhile, the Synchronous Control chip handles the necessary memory organization and timing requirements. It manages the operation of all synchronous memory operations such as timing and I/O operations. It also keeps track of the data present in the memory, and provides error-correction and error-correction detection.The three lower-level address drivers serve to direct memory accesses to the right address in the memory array. They ensure the accuracy of the data being read or written to the memory.
