DZ2S03300L application field and working principle

The DZ2S03300L is a three terminal, low power Zener diode. It is a high performance device specifically designed to provide reliable and accurate protection against electrostatic discharge and other ESD-type disturbances. It ensures very high reliability in all environments, including high temperatures and humidity levels, in a range of industrial, medical and consumer applications.

The device has low leakage current, excellent clamping capabilities and low break-down voltages. It has a stand-off voltage of 33V. It operates with a reverse voltage of up to 33V. The maximum forward surge current is 1A and the maximum reverse surge current is 5mA.

In operation, the breakdown characteristics of the Zener diode prevents excessive voltage from being applied to the device, thus providing the device with protection from electrostatic discharge. When the device is subjected to an ESD pulse, it will provide nearly instantaneous response. Upon occurrence of the ESD pulse, the Zener voltage of the diode reduces from the normal stand-off voltage of 33V to a lower, more steady voltage. This steady voltage is called the clamping voltage, which is the voltage at which further ESD pulse propagation is prevented.

The device is also able to steer large amounts of current when needed. It can achieve a peak reverse current of 7.5A when operating with a reverse voltage of 33V. The device also has a fast switching time, where the turn-off time is as short as 10ns. This low response time allows the device to be used in high-frequency applications, where speed is of the utmost importance.

The device’s low power consumption and fast switching time make it ideal for a variety of applications, including protection from ESD in industrial, medical and consumer applications, protection from voltage spikes in automotive applications, and protection from over-voltage in power supplies.
