The EA8862 is a high performance, compact and cost-effective evaluation board designed for DC/DC and AC/DC off-line SMPS applications. It is ideal for use in applications such as LED lighting, digital power supplies, motor drives and other industrial automation equipment.The EA8862 offers two output stages for use in applications: a DC/DC stage and an AC/DC stage. The DC/DC stage consists of a low dropout (LDO) linear regulator, a voltage follower stage, a switching mode power supply (SMPS) of the hard switching type and a power factor correction (PFC) stage. The AC/DC stage includes an active clamp flyback converter, a soft switching buck-boost converter, a restart over-voltage protection (ROVP) circuit and an output current limit circuit.The EA8862 evaluation board allows users to rapidly design and test a power supply and evaluate the performance of the components on the board. It also provides a great platform for designing advanced AC/DC power supplies. The board includes a control board, two output stages, an adjustable range power supply output, a low voltage disconnect, overvoltage protection and adjustable current limit.The EA8862 includes an on-board, two channel LED driver that can be used to drive up to 4 LEDs in parallel. It also has an integrated soft startup circuit, adjustable slew rate and current limit, temperature protection and UVLO.The board and the power stage components are tested to meet EMC/EMI requirements. It also meets stringent safety requirements for use in applications including lighting, medical and industrial product applications.The power stages of the EA8862 evaluation board can be used in AC/DC and DC/DC applications. The AC/DC stage is capable of providing regulated outputs up to 12 A and the DC/DC stage can provide outputs up to 2 A. The board also provides adjustable output voltage, low voltage disconnect, overvoltage protection, adjustable current limit and adjustable slew rate.The EA8862 evaluation board is an easy to use and economical evaluation platform for testing and evaluating different topologies of SMPS and LED lighting applications. It can also be used for testing and optimizing applications involving motor drives and other industrial automation devices.
