EA8897 is a highly integrated evaluation board for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). It is capable of providing a complete evaluation platform that covers a wide range of SMPS applications such as: AC/DC with Active Clamp, AC/DC Flyback, DC/DC LLC/Flyback, DC/DC CCM/Flyback and DC/DC SEPIC.
The EA8897 board is based on Fairchild’s Integrated PowerStage™, which is an AC/DC off-line flyback power supply controller and driver. The board uses a Flyback topology with ActiveClamp technology for cost efficient, small form factor designs. The application is a low-cost 24V DC/DC as well as an AC/DC off-line Flyback SMPS that operates with either AC or DC inputs and has output voltage/current limit and overload protection. The device can operate with input voltages up to 400VAC.
The EA8897 is intended to simplify the design process and make the task of developing a power supply fast and easy. It includes all commonly used peripheral components, such as power inductors, primary and secondary capacitors, as well as low RDS(on) FETs. This allows the designer to design a complete power supply system in the shortest time possible.
