Working Principle of EL3012S1 TA

This optoisolator has a very small size and is set up in a compact housing that encapsulates both the photoemissive and photoreceptive elements.

The EL3012S1 TA incorporates a high-efficiency optically coupled triac and its two internal components – the input LED and the opto-coupler. The input LED is powered by an external current source, which allows the optically coupled triac to conduct and activate the MOSFET switch. The MOSFET switch is triggered by the photoemissive signal, thus controlling the transfer of digital and analog signals.

The opto-coupler in the EL3012S1TA contains two diodes, namely the photo conductive diode (PD) and the fringing field diode (FFD). The PD and FFD have different properties, which are used to ensure that the optoisolator can manage the transmission and reception of digital and analog signals at the same time. In particular, the PD is used to inject current into the FFD, thereby allowing the opto-coupler to detect the input signal and activate the drive circuit.
