The EL3082S1(TA)-V is typically powered by a 12 – 24 VDC supply, though it is also available with a supplied 24VAC or 240VAC input. This optoisolator is capable of controlling currents up to 0.6A AC, and is rated for up to 2A DC. It is available in a P-SOP, EP-SSOP or DIP configuration.

The working principle of this optoisolator is very simple. A built-in infrared LED is used as the optoisolator’s input. This LED emits light when a voltage is applied to the input of the optoisolator, which then passes through a photocoupler. The photocoupler contains a phototransistor which is activated when it receives the light, causing it to switch on. This triggers the dual-output transistor of the optoisolator, which allow for a current to flow through and switch on the load. The optoisolator easily isolates input and output circuits, thus making it safe and reliable.
