Optoisolators - Triac, SCR Output – are an important device of modern semiconductor electronics. EL3032 is a high isolation Triac or SCR optical-coupled output isolator, composed of a infra-red LED and a detector which is connected to a logic circuit. It also features auxiliary terminals which will allow you to adjust the on/off transition time of the output, as well as the sensitivity.
The EL3032 is designed to provide galvanic electrical isolation between input and output circuits, which in turn eliminates ground loops and provides high common mode transient immunity. In addition, the EL3032 provides a noise reduction of up to 20dB. This is achieved by preventing electrical noise from passing through the isolator, thus preventing any interference or noise from reaching the signal input at the other side.
The EL3032 isolator is specifically designed for controlling lighting, 3-phase motors, resistive heaters, and other loads requiring a trigger to turn them on and off. It is commonly used in home appliances, motor control, and process control. The device can be triggered by a voltage ranging from 3.3V to 277V AC, with a maximum output current of 10A.
The working principle of EL3032 is based on optically isolation technology, which uses light transmission to isolate electrically signals between two circuits. The isolation process begins with the internal LED emitting infrared light which is then received by the detector, along with the input trigger signal. The detector then converts the trigger signal to a logic level compatible with an appropriate logic IC. This in turn provides a logic level signal which triggers the output Triac or SCR.
The EL3032 also features an integrated snubber circuit which prevents any arc discharge in the output when switching from a "1" to a "0" logical state. This means that the output device is not subject to damage during operation. It is also designed to operate in harsh environments, offering protection against surges, EMI, and forces up to 1500V. Additionally, the EL3032 is available in a dual-in-line or surface mount form factor for easy installation.
