The EL7158IS-T7 is a gate driver integrated circuit (IC) part of the PMIC – Gate Drivers family. It is mainly used for Automotive applications and is designed to be a three-channel, low-side gate driver that is ideal for driving N-channel MOSFETs and IGBTs. It is engineered to withstand harsh automotive environments and provides high level of integration.

The main features of the EL7158IS-T7 include Fault Tolerant Design, Multiple LED Driver interfaces, Three Gate Driver Channels and Hot-Swap™ Technology. It is available in a SO-14 (Small Outline) package, providing a total solution size that is extremely small. Its operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +125°C.

The EL7158IS-T7 gate driver consists of two components: the gate driver and the fault protection. The gate driver consists of three channel circuits and each channel provides low-side gate drive capabilities for N-channel MOSFETs or IGBTs. The primary purpose of the gate driver is to provide fast, high current drive with low loss for these devices. It features an open drain output and an integrated level translator which allows it to be used with logic levels of up to 25V.

The fault protection component of the EL7158IS-T7 gate driver consists of two parts. The first part consists of an over-voltage protection circuit which monitors the outputvoltage. If the output voltage is greater than the specified maximumit triggers a fault (OV). The second part consists of an over-current protection circuit which monitors the output current. If the output current is greater than the specified maximum it triggers a fault (OC).
