Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are used in a wide variety of applications, ranging from consumer electronics, to large commercial and industrial systems. ELXM351VSN181MP40S capacitors are a type of Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor specifically designed for high-reliability mobile and wearable electronics applications. These capacitors have an operational temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and are RoHS compliant.The working principle of an Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor is similar to that of other types of capacitor, in that it uses electrical energy to store and then release energy. The construction and operation of an Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor is more complicated than that of other capacitors. It contains two metal plates, called an anode and a cathode, which are separated by a thin sheet of porous metal oxide, called a dielectric. A liquid electrolyte complete with special additives fills the pores of the dielectric. This liquid carries electrical charge and forms an electric double layer at the surface of each metal plate.The electric double layer at the surface of the metal plates results in a charge accumulation between the plates. This stored energy can be released when a voltage is applied to the capacitor. The rate of charge accumulation is known as the capacitance of the capacitor, measured in Farads. As the applied voltage increases, more electrons flow through the electrolyte and recombine at the negative plate, forming a thicker double layer. As the charge accumulates, the capacitance of the capacitor increases.
