The EM351-STACK is a RF Evaluation and Development Kit from Emcraft Systems. It is designed for evaluation and development of 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi applications.

The EM351-STACK comes equipped with a powerful STM32F427 microcontroller and a Atheros AR9287 radio chipset. This chip includes a 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n radio along with an integrated Atheros Conduit Management System (CMS). The STM32F427 is running an RTOS-based stack with an embedded web server which provides a development platform for embedded Wi-Fi applications.

The EM351-STACK can be used for quick evaluation and prototyping of 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi applications. The stack includes the Atheros AR9002AP-2 chip which provides two independent Wi-Fi transceivers. The board has a 3.3V power supply, a USB port, a JTAG interface, a debug port, an Ethernet port, and an I2C/SPI port.

The EM351-STACK also includes a comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) which is designed to support the 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi protocols. The SDK provides an API library for application development and it includes a Wi-Fi end-to-end connectivity simulator. The SDK also includes a Network Management System (NMS) which allows for easy deployment of Wi-Fi networks.

The working principle of the EM351-STACK is simple. First, the AR9002AP-2 chip sends and receives data over the Wi-Fi link. The RTOS-based stack then processes the data and sends it to the application layer. The Application Layer then performs the desired application specific operations. Finally, the Application Layer sends the results back to the RTOS-based stack which then forwards it to the AR9002AP-2 chip.

The EM351-STACK can be used to rapidly develop and evaluate 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi applications for wireless communication systems such as WLANs, PANs, and wireless sensor networks. It can also be used to modify existing applications for increased compatibility and performance or for developing custom Wi-Fi applications. Due to its small form factor, the EM351-STACK is ideal for use in embedded applications that require low power and small size.
