Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are widely used in today\'s electronics due to their high capacitance and low cost. They are used in a variety of applications including power supplies, computer components, amplifiers, medical devices, transducers, and wireless networks. The ESG475M400AH2AA is a type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor. It is a miniature, axial lead, non-polarized, surface mount, electrolytic capacitor for use in high density circuit boards.The ESG475M400AH2AA is a capacitor that is typically used for decoupling and for bypassing of signals. Inside the capacitor are two aluminum plates separated by an electrolyte, an oxidized layer on one of the plates which acts as a dielectric and laminated with a foil wrap to hold the electrolyte. The anode terminal is connected to the aluminum foil wrapping and the cathode is connected to the electrolyte.When a voltage is applied to the terminals of the capacitor, electrical energy is stored in an electric field between the two plates. This electric field is created when current is passed through the electrolyte. As current passes through the electrolyte, it ionizes and creates an ionic charge, which builds up on the anode plate, creating a negative charge, and on the cathode plate, creating a positive charge. This charge creates an electric field which results in the voltage being stored in between the plates.The stored voltage is available to the consumer until it is discharged by some external circuitry. When the capacitor is no longer connected to the circuit, it loses its charge and the potential difference between the terminals reduces to zero. As the voltage on the capacitor drops, the current decreases as well, resulting in the capacitor retaining only a memory of its final voltage.The ESG475M400AH2AA aluminum electrolytic capacitor is an example of a non-polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitor.
