The EVM3620A-QV-00A is a complete off-line switching power supply evaluation board. It is used mainly in off-line switched mode power supplies, high power energy conversion, and DC/DC & AC/DC applications. The board features a switch mode converter with integrated driver and control circuit. It offers a high power efficiency, a large power range, a flexible range of voltage and current regulation and a wide variety of signal monitoring capabilities.

The board includes a 36V DC input voltage range, a primary side 0.2 to 8.0A current range, and an adjustable overload current from 0.5 to 8.0A. It provides an adjustable soft start input voltage of 1V to 13V, and a DC voltage output range of 2V to 36V. It also supports current tracking and power stage control, as well as remote sensing for increased accuracy. Additionally, it includes short circuit protection, efficiency monitoring, and various protection features.

The integrated driver circuit of the EVM3620A-QV-00A allows for a reliable and flexible operation and control. It features pulse-width modulation (PWM), hysteretic mode, burst mode, and Quasi-Resonant Zero-Voltage Transition (QZVT). The QZVT mode allows for a minimum off time, and the pulse-width modulation drives an oscillator with one power output. Hysteretic mode maintains a constant inductor current peak current and minimizes output voltage ripple. Burst mode enables low-power operations, and the integrated control circuit provides for a wide range of output current and voltage settings.

The EVM3620A-QV-00A also includes an independent tachometer signal control circuit. This feature not only assists in regulating the speed of the switching converter, but also provides an information output reflecting the actual output power of the switching converter. The switching frequency of the converter can be also adjusted through the on-board potentiometers, and a wide range of monitoring outputs can be read through the on-board USB port. Additionally, an onboard seven-segment display can be used for monitoring and troubleshooting.
