EVM3682-RE-00A is an evaluation board designed to evaluate the performance of Texas Instrument’s TPS3200 family of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (switched-mode power supplies). The EVM includes a 32A synchronous rectifier buck converter featuring an internal 40V N-channel MOSFET device, 20V ultra-low-power control IC, and external components needed to provide power conversion solutions. The board also allows users to easily evaluate the performance of the converter with minimal effort or development time.EVM3682-RE-00A provides complete power conversion solutions for 12V (nominal) output from either wide input voltage categories from 2.7V up to 6V or 3.3V input. Its feature is DC/DC (boost) and DC/DC-buck forefficiencies up to 97% with excellent output voltage accuracy of ± (2.5% max). The board is configurable with two terminal blocks for 3.3V or 6V input supply, voltage programming resistor to change output voltage, and an accessdiode for load disconnect. The EVM3682-RE-00A evaluation board also includes an adjustable current limiter for load protection and a low-powerdetected circuit to reduce power consumption levels to 0.2 μA in no-load conditions.EVM3682-RE-00A working principle is based on the synchronous-rectified buck converter topology, where an internal high-side MOSFET switch controls the power delivered from the input to the output. An internal low-side MOSFET device works as a synchronous rectifier, which helps improve output voltage accuracy, reduce switching losses, and provide protection for the MOSFET components by limiting the reverse recovery current of the diode. The control system of EVM3682-RE-00A is based on a digitally enhanced circuit with integrated high-performance power management, including on-chip protections, PFM, PWM/PFM switching modes, dual independent over-voltage and under-voltage protections, temperature protection, soft start, current limiting, turn-on/turn-off ramp, and adjustable compensation.In addition, EVM3682-RE-00A provides several configurable options through external pins and jumpers for adjusting device functions, including output voltage range, current limit levels, PFM accumulation time, soft start/ramp beginning/ending points, reference voltage, compensation gain, etc. Operational parameters are set using external voltage dividers, which do not require complicated controller inputs. EVM3682-RE-00A demonstration board provides a simple and flexible method for evaluating the efficiency, power, and performance of the TPS3200 family of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS devices.EVM3682-RE-00A is ideal for applications where high-density, cost-effective, low-power, and high-voltage performance is required, such as automotive navigation systems, industrial control, remote communication, and consumer electronics. This evaluation board also features a wide range of operating temperatures (-40°C to 85°C) and a low-profile design, which enables it to fit many applications.
