The EVM3686-RU-00A is one of the latest Evaluation Boards in the DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) family. This board enables the efficient characterization and evaluation of the products within this family and the technologies and components used.

The Evolutionary Design Ecosys (EDE) controller IC EV3686 is the core of this device. The EDE contains all of the features and functionality needed to deliver an efficient, high-quality off-line power supply. The EV3686 is designed for universal input voltages and includes a wide range of features, such as an active power factor correction (PFC), digital control, and advanced protection circuitry.

The EVM3686-RU-00A application field mainly targets LED lighting and smart grid applications, such as industrial, communication, and medical. The EV3686 also provides a number of features for protection against potential faults. It features an active overload protection mechanism, which limits the current through the LEDs and other components in case of a hardware fault, thus preventing any damage. It also has an overvoltage protection circuit to protect the EVM3686-RU-00A from excessive voltages.
