The FAN5607HMPX is a high-voltage and high-current LED driver in the Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) family with LED drivers as its main application field. This LED driver was developed to deliver a specific amount of current to an LED source. It can drive one LED string or two LED strings in series with up to 250 mA of current. The FAN5607HMPX provides a fixed-frequency includes over voltage protection and short circuit protection and can reduce the system complexity by eliminating variable-frequency solutions. The working principle of FAN5607HMPX is based on a fixed-frequency peak current-mode control scheme. When a constant current source is provided, the peak current-mode control scheme uses certain values of current to control the gate voltage of the output transistor. With the control voltage, the output transistor is modulated in a way that reproduces the provided current values to the LED string. When the current demands of the LED strings exceed the regulated load current, the peak current-mode control scheme will terminate the cycling and the output transistor will be turned off to protect the device and the LED strings.

In addition to current level settings, the FAN5607HMPX provides a 16-bit port with I2C protocol to program output dimming duty-cycles. The duty-cycle settings allow the user to adjust the brightness of the LED string and control the output current of the LED string exactly. It also provides thermal protection to protect itself from high-temperature conditions. Its operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 85°C.
