FAN5609MTCX is part of the PMIC – LED Drivers family. It is designed to boost the brightness of Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for lighting and display applications. It is capable of powering up to four LEDs in parallel with a maximum load current up to 18.5mA each.

The FAN5609MTCX features an internal high-voltage P-channel MOSFET switch, extenal resistor to adjust the Boost voltage, and integrated Burst Mode® control circuit. The combination of these features provides users with an excellent degree of flexibility in terms of LED string design and power efficiency.

The Boost voltage can be set by adjusting the external resistor according to the formulae below:

VINVMIN = VBAT +((RFB + RFWDT) x (1 + VREF/3.3V))

VINVMAX = VBAT + ((RFB + RFWDT) × (1 - VREF/3.3V))

The VIN range of FAN5609MTCX is 2.5V~16V, and its input over-voltage protection (OVP) is 19V. FAN5609MTCX can automatically limit the output current of LEDs, which helps reduce the power consumption and extend their life. Its low quiescent current when operating at no load also helps enhance the battery life.

The Burst Mode control circuit inside the FAN5609MTCX provides up to 96% efficiency, which is beneficial for energy-saving applications. The minimum off-time of the circuit ensures that the FAN5609MTCX can still operate in the given duty cycle range even when the input voltage is low.

FAN5609MTCX also provides three typical LED switch timing modes, i.e., Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) dimming, Constant Current (CC) dimming and Linear dimming, to meet different dimming requirements. By using these dimming methods, users can easily adjust the light intensity.

FAN5609MTCX is available in an MSOP-8 package, which is suitable for use in space-constrained systems. It supports both Pb-free and RoHS compliance and provides superior thermal performance, making it an ideal choice for battery-powered LED applications.
