FAN7316M is an integrated power management IC (PMIC) which provides four buck channels and one LDOchannels, and is specially designed for applications that demand a high performance of output current and low noise. FAN7316M provides four buck channels with adjustable output current capability that is high enough for large displays and gaming applications, such as 5.4A for channels D3, D4, D5 and D6, 1.7A for channels D1 and D2, and 1.25A for channel D0. Under each buck channel, FAN7316M provides an integrated PWM controller to simplify the board layout and minimize the EMI noise. In addition, wide input voltage range of 4V to 24V and all the protection features make FAN7316M suitable for notebooks and tablets.

As for its working principle, the power management IC (PMIC) is based on the concept of buck converter. A buck converter is an electrical circuit which can convert a higher voltage supply into a lower voltage. In the case of FAN7316M, the buck channel provides an adjustable output current that is generated by the integrated PWM controller.
