The FAN7530MX is a monolithic PFC controller for various power applications. It is capable of providing excellent power factor correction (PFC) performance for offline power systems, delivering power outputs up to 100W.

Working principle of FAN7530MX
The FAN7530MX is a high performance PFC controller with a high power factor. The controller is composed of input AC rectification circuit, DC-DC boost converter, error amplifier, oscillator and gate driver.
The main purpose of the PFC controller is to maintain a high power factor, by converting input current harmonics to a steady DC voltage with less than 5% THD.
The FAN7530MX utilizes a 120° single ended PFC topology, which provides high power factor with excellent line and load regulation. The topology uses a two-stage circuit configuration, which is composed of an input AC rectification circuit and a DC-DC boost converter. The output voltage is regulated by controlling the duty cycle of the boost converter.
The input rectification circuit is a full-wave rectification circuit with a single phase diode bridge. The current input is transformed into a DC voltage, which is then fed to the DC-DC boost converter. The boost converter increases the DC input voltage and generates a steady DC output voltage.
The PFC controller also offers a low-power, highly accurate error amplifier to accurately measure and compare the output voltage to a reference voltage. The error amplifier drives the oscillator, which is used to generate a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. The PWM signal is used to control the duty cycle of the boost converter, which allows the error amplifier to accurately regulate the output voltage.
The FAN7530MX also includes a gate driver to control the operation of the power MOSFETs of the input diode bridge and the DC-DC boost converter. The driver is powered by a low voltage regulator and provides fast switching speeds and low losses.
