FAN7930MX, a PMIC – PFC (Power Factor Correction) chip, is widely used to convert ac-input to pre-regulated dc-output in cost-sensitive applications, such as information home appliance, instrument and small office equipment, etc. It provides high efficiency and up to 95.3% with its high performance, flexible features and full protection.
Power Factor Correction (PFC) is an electrical power conversion technique used to improve the input power factor of the power supply, which can eliminate electric surges or interferences produced by the electric appliance, maximize the electric power network efficiency, and lower the electric bills. Furthermore, using the FAN7930MX in a power supply circuit creates a system whose standby power consumption is minimized, significantly reducing the power dissipation and carbon footprint of the system.
Work Principle:
The FAN7930MX converts ac-input to pre-regulated dc-output in cost-sensitive applications. The FAN7930MX achieves high efficiency with its integrated complete PFC control function and adjustment free control by sensing the line voltage, line current and frequency signal of the power source. Any variation on the line voltage and line current signal is controlled by the PFC controller in order to attain optimal power conversion. The FAN7930MX’s cycle-by-cycle current limit function offers better system stability and protection. The FAN7930MX provides adjustable operating frequency up to 650kHz and better EMI performance.
The FAN7930MX’s main applications include flyback type AC/DC power supplies, multiple output AC/DC power supplies, active power factor correction (PFC) pre-regulation, a fuse and an ESD protection circuit to keep the circuit drives safe. It also offers low-cost solutions for small-power AC/DC applications.
