Working Principles
The FDC2114RGHR is based on the FDC2xx family of patented low-power, high-accuracy capacitive touch sensing ICs from ROHM. The FDC2114RGHR has a programmable linear capacitive sensing feature, which can detect touch up to 80 mm with a high level of precision and resolution. The FDC2114RGHR utilizes the "transmitter" and "receiver" technology for superior accuracy when used for keyboard or touchpad applications.
A small amount of capacitance is generated between the transmitter and receiver as a finger comes in contact with the sensor. The changing capacitance is converted into a digital output of "touch" or "no touch" which is sent to the host processor. The FDC2114RGHR has internal calibration and filtering features to improve accuracy and provide reliable results while preventing false triggers. Additionally, the FDC2114RGHR has built-in temperature compensation, eliminating the need for manual recalibration or adjustments in temperature or humidity.
The FDC2114RGHR also integrates multiple levels of output settings, allowing for settings to be adjusted for different applications.
