The FST6335M diode rectifier arrays are used for a wide variety of applications in military and industrial/consumer fields, such as lighting, motor control, and communications systems. This versatile device is available in a variety of configurations ranging from single-phase rectifiers to three-phase configurations.
The FST6335M’s flexibility stems from its unique three-phase bridge bridge rectifier configuration. This design allows the FST6335M’s forward-biased and reverse-biased diodes to work together in a bridge rectifier configuration. In a bridge rectifier configuration, the forward and reverse biased diodes are placed in two separate groups. The first group, called the cathode set, are connected in series and the second group, called the anode set, are connected in parallel.
In order for the FST6335M to take advantage of the bridge rectifier configuration, it requires the use of a transformer. The transformer steps the AC input voltage down to the proper output voltage level. The FST6335M bridge rectifier diode array then uses this stepped down voltage to convert the AC input to a DC output. The advantage of the FST6335M’s bridge rectifier configuration is that it offers twice the efficiency of a single-phase rectifier.
