The FT93C56A-IDR-B is a serial EEPROM memory device that is popularly used in different applications. It is an 8-pin device, originally developed by Fintek. This device is in 8-pin DIP package and primarily used for storing small amounts of data such as configuration settings and passwords. It is a non-volatile memory chip with no battery back-up, meaning that it can retain its memory even when the power is switched off.This FT93C56A-IDR-B device is used in applications such as automotive electronics, communication equipment, security systems, industrial systems, and many more. It is suitable for storage in high temperature environments and can withstand temperature ranges of -40°C to +70°C. With a storage capacity of 128bytes, it can be divided into 16pages, each containing 8bytes of memory. It can clock input/output data rates up to 25MHz and therefore very suitable for applications that require faster responses.In order to access its data, the FT93C56A-IDR-B device requires 3 master pulses. The first two pulses (RST and RW) must be sent to the device in order to select the data memory address. The third pulse (EN) is used to read or write data. The data is sent via the DATA IN pin and can be retrieved from the DATA OUT pin.In order to prevent accidental write or erase operations, the FT93C56A-IDR-B also has two further pins dedicated for Write Protection (WP/WEL) and Program/Erase (PE/PGM). When the WP/WEL pin is activated, it acts as a write protect and will prevent any write or erase operations of the device. When the PE/PGM pin is activated the device can enter to both write and erase operations.The FT93C56A-IDR-B device also provides further security and authentication functionality. It supports several different authentication modes such as hardware authentication, hardware/software authentication and software authentication.
