Working Principle

The GBJ606-F Bridge Rectifier operates on the basic four-diode full wave rectifier principle. When connected in parallel configuration to the AC input, four diodes form two individual paths for the current flow. An input transformer is typically used to reduce the input voltage and provide a step down from the AC line level. The output of the transformer is then fed to the bridge rectifier where it is rectified into a DC voltage. The resulting DC voltage is then regulated by an external filter capacitor and/or resistor.

A fast recovery zone overlapping device is incorporated into the GBJ606-F Bridge Rectifier to prevent current from flowing in the reverse direction. This allows it to quickly switch off the current when the input waveform drops below the operation point of the diode. This prevents the bridge rectifier from developing sustained reverse voltage which could potentially damage the circuit.

Additionally, a snubber network is integrated into the GBJ606-F Bridge Rectifier. This provides extra protection during the power-up / power-down process in order to reduce switching oscillations which can cause excessive power dissipation or current spikes.
