H11L23SD is a type of optoisolator that is designed with logic output. It is 6-pin plastic SMT package that features miniature size and industry standard pinout. H11L23SD is designed to isolate logic buffer of microcontroller-based circuits and provide higher system noise immunity.
The working principle of H11L23SD is mainly based on the light emitting diode (LED). The LED is optically coupled with a resistance – voltage converter consisting of phototransistor and transistor pair. It has a low current input (15~50 mA) which drives LED and a current transfer ratio of 100:1 for maximum current of 0.5 mA. Hence, the voltage transfer ratio of H11L23SD optoisolator is mainly in the range of 5-15 V in case of 6V input.
H11L23SD has wide application field. It is commonly used for data and signal isolation between various electronic devices. For instance, it can be used to isolate the circuit from the external environment and protect the circuit from any noise interference. H11L23SD also acts as an interface between two circuits where one circuit is driven by a 5V logic source and the other is from a 15V logic source. The optoisolator can also act as an isolation amplifier for low current signals which does not destroy the output voltage due to voltage and current changes.
H11L23SD consists of a high gain input circuit which is driven by LED and a 100K ohm series resistor-transistor pair. The input voltage of H11L23SD ranges from 2.5 to 40 V. When the input voltage is between these values, the on resistance of H11L23SD is low and it acts as an open circuit.
The output of H11L23SD optoisolator is a pair of open collector transistor-transistor logic (TTL) buffers. The output logic levels of the open collector logic signals are typically 5 V. The output logic circuitry is fully buffered hence it produces a low output impedance that can drive up to 10K resistors. The high output voltage driving capability of the optoisolator assists TTL logic buffered output to drive up to 500W loads in both static and dynamic conditions.
H11L23SD optoisolator has a wide range of applications. It can be used in electronic circuits where data and signal isolation is needed to protect the circuits from outside interference. It can also be used as an interface between two circuits with different logic levels. Finally, it can be used as an isolation amplifier for low current signals in order to maintain the output signal stability and prevent any current or voltage changes.
