The HAL1564UA is one of a range of magnetic sensors - switches (solid state) that detect changes in an area, typically a few centimetres, of magnetic field strength. These switches, also known as Hall Effect switches, respond to changes in the field strength immediately and are able to produce switch outputs ranging from logic level outputs through to analogue signals with quick speeds of response.
Application fields
HAL1564UA is suitable for use in sensing neodymium magnets, stepper motors, specific alignments, proximity detection, and application to door locks and other safety systems. It also has numerous industrial applications in instrumentation, process control, plastics, finishing system, tissue handling, rotary encoders, pumps, and in fluid level sensing. Furthermore, they are applicable for speed and position measurements. They provide long-term stability and optimal performance at 0.5 mV/V sensitivity.
Working Principle
The HAL1564UA switch is equipped with a three-wire sensing element which operates on the principle of the Hall Effect. This effect is the name given to the voltage that is produced when a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to a flow of current within a conductor. This imposes an electrical field to be generated transverse (at right angles) to the applied field. A Hall voltage difference is thus created between the two sides of the PI bridge and is detected by the sensing element.
When power is applied, the sensing element receives an alternating current of 1800 Hz. When the sensor is exposed to a magnetic field, the field strength affects the Hall voltage generated by the PI bridge and thus changes the pulse width of the output voltage. The strength of the magnetic field is proportional to the pulse width; thus, a feedback loop is formed and the sensor’s output voltage depends on the strength of the field. With a 200 Am zeba-rated, 7mV/A (max) sensitivity, the HAL1564UA is capable of accurately detecting fields in the surrounding environment.
This device is stable and accurate and can be used for very precise measurements. Its excellent accuracy and sensitivity means that it can detect small changes in the magnetic field strength and can respond to very small changes in the field direction. This makes it ideal for applications that require rapid switching and delicate sensing for safety, reliability, and accuracy.
