Introduction

The HCNR200#050 optoisolator, also known as a transistor, photovoltaic output optoisolator, is an electromechanical device designed to transfer information from low voltage to high voltage without direct electrical contact between the two circuits. Working Principle

The HCNR200#050 optoisolator works by using a low-voltage logic input to control a high active drive output. This happens by using an LED which is photovoltaically isolated from the input. When the LED is activated, it produces light which is detected by a photodiode on the other side of the device. The photodiode then produces an electrical current, which results in the activation of the output transistor. It essentially acts as a one-way switch with the input as the control signal and the output as an amplified version of the input signal.
