RF mixers are essential components in most RF circuits. They convert signals from one frequency domain to another domain by taking advantage of the non-linearity of certain devices. One of the most popular RF mixers is the HMC1093-SX.
The HMC1093-SX is a wideband mixer with linearization techniques at 10 GHz to 18 GHz and offers linearity of 17 dB with a noise figure of 10 dB. This device is a four-port passive mixer that uses a single balun for Push-Push conversion. It is an ideal choice for use in radar systems, point-to-point communications, point-to-multipoint communication systems, and satellite communication systems.
The main applications of HMC1093-SX include radio receivers, phase locked loops (PPLs), microwave amplifier, and automatic gain control (AGC). It takes advantage of the nonlinear behavior of a semiconductor, such as a diode, to combine two or more signals when exposed to different levels of electrical current.
