Working Principle

The HMC498LC4TR-R5 provides integrated circuitry for easy implementation of a RF modulator. The RF Modulator contains an 8-Bit Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) that is able to satisfy various modulation requirements for Hittite’s customers. The integrated DAC within the HMC498LC4TR-R5 works off a single 5V supply and includes a reference, one ground, and one bias point. The output of the modulator is configured for a 100Ω differential load at the RF Frequency range.

The HMC498LC4TR-R5’s integrated circuit has the ability to improve modulation index by providing offset, slope and modulation adjustment features. It also has a range of linearity adjustment features that range from 0.09 dB to 1 GHz.

The HMC498LC4TR-R5’s high linearity and low noise-floor enables digital consumer applications for a variety of systems, such as global satellite systems, wireless networks, telecom switches, and internet services, to function both effectively and reliably.
