HMC522LC4TR-R5 is an active mixer that is composed of two RF ports (input and output) and two LO ports (local oscillator inputs). The purpose of this mixer is to convert a high frequency RF signal to another frequency. This is done by combining the input signal with the LO signal in the mixer to generate a new signal at a different frequency. This mixing is done by multiplying the two signals in the mixer.The basis of the mixer is the diode-ring multiplier topology known as a Gilbert Cell.
