An HMC860LP3E is an advanced three-phase, DC/DC buck regulator, linear voltage regulator and switching converter. This low lying miniature, low power, high performance regulator is ideal for industrial and consumer applications such as motor control and power factor correction, digital signal processing, server and storage, and networking and communication equipment.

The HMC860LP3E is specifically designed to provide a programmable voltage regulator stage, a dual-phase buck regulator stage and a fault monitor, in order to deliver programmable outputs up to five-phase. At up to 95% efficiency, this automatically sets the boundaries in terms of power consumption, allowing devices to run with significantly less power and better device performance.

With the ability to accept input voltages of up to 24V, the HMC860LP3E regulator can provide two isolated and programmable output voltages up to 1.2V. This regulator works with any controller, and provides a smooth and constant output current, with a PWM dimming range from ~ 2V to ~ 20V. The precision voltage regulation ensures a cold start voltage of around 0.75 V, in order to ensure the device starts with a low power state.

The HMC860LP3E has a wide working temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, which helps increase reliability and longevity of the device in extreme temperatures and environments. Any overvoltage and any unrelated undershoot is monitored and controlled by a dual rail voltage supervisor. The integrated sequences reduce the number of controlling switches required, thereby reducing EMI and increasing efficiency.

The regulator has programmable soft-start and frequency synchronization feature to reduce the cost of the system by controlling the stability of the output. Multiple current points allow the device to correctly adjust the output power demand depending on the load. Also, a Power of Good signal is provided to signal an over-temperature fault.
