Working Principle

The HPA02277RGRR is a dual-channel battery charger that uses a constant voltage, constant current (CV, CC) charging algorithm to accurately and quickly charge two lithium-ion/polymer cells. During charge, the input current is regulated based on programmed settings. The current will be limited by the Fold-back current limit when the input voltage exceeds the programmed current setting. The internal cell voltage regulation comparators monitor each cell voltage and will stop the charging when the cell voltage reaches 4.2V or 4.36V. At the end of charge, the output will be held in regulation and the cells will start a trickle charging process. The total charge time is dependent on the charge rate, ambient temperature and the battery capacity.

For safety, the HPA02277RGRR employs a variety of protection features, such as OVP, thermal shutdown, and programmable safety timeout. It also supports a wide input voltage range and a low standby current of 10nA, making it a great solution for applications with limited power resources.
