Thyristors are usually divided into DIACs, SIDACs, and Triacs. The HT5761A can be classified as a SIDAC. A SIDAC stands for "Silicon Controlled Rectifier with a DIAC Anode." The SIDAC is a three-layer device consisting of a gate, an anode, and a cathode. It is often used in applications where a switch is needed to turn a device on or off.

The main difference between DIACs, SIDACs, and Triacs is the way they are triggered. A DIAC is triggered directly by either an AC or a DC voltage, while a SIDAC is triggered by applying a current to the gate terminal.
