Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor consisting of two aluminum plates separated by a thin layer of oxide which acts as the dielectric. The plates are immersed in an electrolyte, usually a mixture of water and organic compounds that are able to adhere to the anode. When electrical current is applied to the aluminum plate, an electric field is generated which then penetrates through the dielectric. This electric field creates an attraction between the anode ‒ cathode plate, and electrons are collected on the cathode plate creating a capacitance. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are ideal for applications that require high capacitance value in an limited space with inexpensive.

The HVMLS682M020EK0D is a miniature electrolytic capacitor that operates in a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is a polarised radial capacitor with a high temperature, low ESR and long life performance. The electrolytic capacitor has two aluminum alloy anode plates and it can hold 2uF of capacitance.
