ICS97U870AKT is a Clock/Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizer Manufactured by Integrated Device Technology (IDT). The ICS97U870AKT is a high performance dual Frequency Synthesizer providing clock-signal source for switching regulators, analog and digital ICs, EMC Filter, broadcast receivers, home theater systems and other various applications. The device provides two input references and configures two output signals. The reference sources can be an internal or external oscillator or an external clock input. Output frequencies can be pre-programmed by the user.
The ICS97U870AKT Features Zero Delay Buffer (ZDB) Technology and is capable of driving signals over long distances with minimal jitter and no need of additional clock isolation circuitry. Signals can be distributed up to 25 meters (80 feet) with one ZDB. The ZDBs are available in multiple voltage levels and can be programmed to ensure compatibility with different I/O standard. The device is also able to spread spectrum clocking support, the output frequency can be modulated with frequencies of ± 0.25%, ± 0.5%, ± 0.75% and ± 1.0%. It have adjustable skew to select between 8ns, 16ns or 32ns for the single transition of output signals. The ICS97U870AKT also offers an array of test modes and configurable delay on each output as well as power down capability.
Application Field:
The ICS97U870AKT applications include for mobile phones, flat panel displays, computers, HDTV, set-top boxes, digital signage and various other audio/video equipment. It can also be used for Point-of-Load (POL) converters, switching regulators, video and peripheral buses, home appliances, motor/fan control, etc.
Working Principle:
The ICS97U870AKT integrates two Clock Generators - one for the reference clock generation and one for the output frequencies. The device has two input references, one internal and one external. The internal reference can be an oscillator or a crystal while the external reference can be an external clock input. The output frequencies can be pre-programmed by the user, in the range from 10 kHz to 200 MHz. The device supports both positive and negative edge clock generation and also Spread Spectrum Clock Output Support.
The International Clock Generator runs at a frequency of up to 200MHz and can be programmed for a wide range of output frequencies and edges. The output signals have an adjustable skew of 8ns, 16ns or 32ns for the single transition. The device also has an array of test modes and configurable delay on each output as well as power down capability. The internally generated clock is supplied to the second Clock Generator which is responsible for generating the outputs. The PLL Synthesizer operates with a frequency of up to 200MHz and can also be programmed for a wide range of output frequencies.
Each output is capable of driving signals over long distances with minimal jitter and no need of additional clock isolation circuitry. Signals can be distributed up to 25 meters (80 feet) with one Zero Delay Buffer (ZDB) and a maximum of four ZDBs can be connected in parallel. The ZDBs are available in multiple voltage levels and can be programmed to ensure compatibility with different I/O standards.
