The IH5049CWE is a 4-bit high speednon-inverting multiplexer/demultiplexer integrated circuit which can be used for the high density data communications, telecoms equipment, clock and data distribution and audio switching applications. It uses a CMOS technology process and is manufactured in a tiny SOT-23 package.
The IH5049CWE is an ideal solution for multiplexing/demultiplexing data streams as it can perform its switching functions at frequencies up to 400MHz. This multiplexer/demultiplexer uses a single supply voltage of 3-22V and is able to operate with low power consumption due to the CMOS technology used. It also features low on-resistance across the switch, making it well suited to low voltage switching applications.
The IH5049CWE is designed as an amplifier and multiplexer/demultiplexer, utilizing a multiplexer. It has two output pins that are used as the multiplexer, while the other two pins provide an on-off switch that can be used to provide the multiplexer with a control signal. The four data inputs are labeled A, B, C and D.
The multiplexer works by allowing only one of the four data inputs to be active at any given time. The control pins, when connected together, provide the logic for deciding which one of the four data inputs will be active. When the control pins are low, A is active and B, C and D are inactive; when the control pins are high, B is active and A, C and D are inactive. In this way, up to four separate signals can be routed through the IH5049CWE.
The demultiplexer works by taking the multiplexed signal and splitting it back into its original separate channels. The demultiplexer has four output pins that are labelled S0, S1, S2 and S3. When the control pins are low, S0 is the active output and S1, S2 and S3 are inactive; when the control pins are high, S1 is the active output and S0, S2 and S3 are inactive. In this way, the four separate channels of data can be split into their original signals.
The IH5049CWE also has a latch on its output to hold the signal information when the input signal changes. The latch prevents any unintentional data corruption, as it holds the signal until the next clock pulse resets it. This makes it ideal for switching audio and high-speed data signals, as the signal is protected against any unintended changes.
